Conservative Pushback  On Campus

The American college campus has become a bastion for leftist ideals over the years, making it increasingly difficult for the conservative viewpoint to take hold in the minds of young citizens who simply want to know the truth. Young America’s Foundation vice president Kate Obenshain and film director Stephen K. Bannon attended Tuesday’s Bloggers Briefing to discuss how the new film The Conservatives is a concerted effort to breathe fire back into the conservative movement.

“What we wanted to do was present to young people these [conservative] ideas in a positive way [and talk] about how our ideas actually work,” Obenshain, the film’s executive producer, said.

The film includes commentary by outspoken conservative warriors as Jonah Goldberg and Mark Levin, who are engaging in the ideological trench warfare that is necessary to move this country in the right direction.

“The concept [of The Conservatives] was to take big ideas, match them with some of the big personalities we have in our movement, and go for a big impact,” Bannon, the director of such noteworthy documentaries as The Undefeated and Occupy Unmasked, said. “We are not going to win and we are not going to turn this country around and we’re not going to save the America we all know and love unless we fight, and we’re going to have to fight very hard.”

Both Bannon and Obenshain emphasized the importance of promoting free market principles throughout American colleges and universities, especially those that have been heavily indoctrinating their students with socialist ideas and intimidating them from speaking their minds. The college students and entrepreneurs are the ones that need to be reached out to because they effectively hold the future of the country in their hands. There must be an aggressive advocacy of conservative ideals on America’s campuses if the cultural war is to be won.
