Iran Deal Puts Israel At Risk
With President Obama’s Iran nuclear deal just around the corner, there couldn’t have been a better time for the 2015 Christian United for Israel (CUFI) Summit in Washington D.C.
“We gather here for our tenth annual CUFI summit, and this is the snapshot of the world: The enemies of Israel have surrounded the Jewish state, promising to wipe the Jewish people off the face of the earth. Our State Department has been groveling before Iran, trying to get a nuclear agreement,” said CUFI Founder and National Chairman Pastor John Hagee at the summit’s Welcome Ceremony.“Every day concessions are made, and every day the deal becomes worse and worse.”
“Regardless of what President Obama has said, the deal is not verifiable,” Roger Aronoff of Accuracy in Media notes. “Just the opposite.”
“It actually rewards Iran with more than $100 billion in sanctions relief, money that is certain to be used by the totalitarian regime to continue to expand its hegemonic and terrorist pursuits.”
Meanwhile, President Obama vetoed The Corker-Menendez Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act. The Act allowed Congress to review any nuclear agreement made with Iran. As for the U.S.-Iran agreement itself, Aronoff notes that “Congress still has a chance to stop this ‘agreement’ from going forward, but President Obama requires only 34 U.S. senators to prevent the override of his veto if they disapprove. Congress has 60 days to consider the deal before voting on it.”
“For the past six years under President Obama we have seen a consistent path of the Obama-Clinton foreign policy that has been alienating and abandoning our friends and allies, and demonstrating weakness and appeasement to our enemies,” Senator Ted Cruz, R-Texas, a 2016 presidential candidate, said in a video broadcast to the conference. “There has been no nation for whom that has been more acutely true than for the nation of Israel.”
Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in a special video addressed to the CUFI conference, concluded, “This is not about partisan politics. This is about survival. This is about our future. Friends, Israel and the United States are stronger when we stand together. Our alliance is based upon the common values our two countries share.”
With 2.2 million members, CUFI reigns as the largest pro-Israel organization in America.
