AIA Executive Director in USA TODAY
Accuracy in Academia’s executive director, Malcolm A. Kline, has an article in USA TODAY about the less-than-African roots of Kwanzaa.
Kwanzaa, the “Pan-African holiday” celebrated at the end of each year, is exclusively American, discovers Malcolm Kline. Kline draws on the experiences of his family—his wife is a native of Zimbabwe—and finds that Kwanzaa is more West Coast than West African.
He has found that, like his Africa-born wife, most Africans never heard of Kwanzaa until arriving in the United States. Even then, he finds, most are hard put to describe the holiday.
