"I Debate has been
invaluable in teaching me how to debate. I have always known how to argue,

but now I know how to debate. I have always been a gifted public speaker,
but

I Debate has taught me how to think on my feet."

The above comments are taken from numerous thank you letters from last
year’s I Debate student participants. Clearly, your sponsorship can make a
huge difference in the education and personal development of these young
students. Please consider changing a life forever by sponsoring one
or more of them. A $1,000 scholarship will sponsor one student to this year’s
I Debate. To sponsor a student, please visit https://secure.ncpa.org/idebate/ .

The NCPA is delighted to announce the
return of I Debate – Developing Leaders with General Tommy Franks in
conjunction with the General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute and Oklahoma
Christian University July 12-17, 2009.

I Debate is a 5 day debate, communications and leadership
development camp for 48 of the finest high school students from across the
nation. The camp will also provide them an opportunity to voice their views,
positions and concerns about some of today’s most important public policy
issues.

Students are asked to pay a nominal fee to attend the camp so no student
will be unable to participate due to financial constraints. Your sponsorship
will help defray student costs for airfare, accommodations, meals and
transportation for the entire week.

Students will be trained in strategic thinking, planning, communication,
teamwork and persuasion. Presenting their ideas in a free-style debate, and
moderated by nationally syndicated talk radio host Mike Gallagher, students
will share their vision for the future with their peers and the American
public. Students will receive debate training from NCPA’s professional policy
analysts, debate coaches, college debate students, and have an opportunity
meet with General Tommy Franks.

The goal of I Debate is to develop young leaders of
character who are well informed about our communities’ issues, who are well
informed about today’s most important public policy issues, and to equip them
with the skills to communicate a vision for a better future, and the skills
to work with people from all walks of life.
