Students to Pomona College: Don’t Hire a White Professor due to Her Race

In their letter, “Letter to the Pomona College Sociology Department,” some Pomona College students do not want the college to hire a white professor because… she is a white female and they want more “people of color” represented in the college faculty.

The letter explicitly disagrees with Goffman’s research and how her research discriminates against black Americans:

Her methods have endangered her research participants, encouraged the hyper-policing of Black communities, and continue to perpetuate anti-Blackness.
