Fresno State Lets Left-Wing Prof Go

Believe it or not, Fresno State has discovered that Hate Speech can emanate from the Left.

“A history professor at Fresno State University who tweeted that President Trump ’must hang’ will not be returning to teach in the fall,” the Associated Press reports. “University President Joseph Castro said in a statement Friday that Lars Maischak, an American history instructor, wouldn’t be teaching when classes resume.”

“But Castro said two of Maischak’s courses would be converted to an online format to fulfill a contractual obligation. Castro said Maischak’s contractual assignment expires on December 20, 2017.”

“Maischak’s three-year contract runs through May 2018. He had taken a voluntary leave of absence after apologizing for the tweet he wrote in April.”
The full tweet read, “To save American democracy, Trump must hang. The sooner and the higher, the better.”
Of course, since it is an AP story, the article had to indicate that the exposure of the professor’s actions was somehow more problematic than the acts themselves. The article ends with the line: “Far-right websites such as Breitbart News highlighted the tweet, sparking angry calls on social media for the professor to be fired.”

Nevertheless, for an AP story to end with that sentence rather than begin the article with it demonstrates a journalistic discipline the news organization usually doesn’t display.
