In San Antonio, they came face to face with it. “In the 8th grade American History class students were asked to reflect on the differing sides of slavery,” according to San Antonio Charter Moms.

The lesson plan at Great Hearts Monte Vista has since been revised. Asking eighth graders to reflect on anything is risky. There’s a reason why reflection is usually a privilege of age: We have more information to reflect on as we grow older.

Moreover, there are some questions that are never asked that would be worth pursuing, namely:

~Who sold the slaves?; and

~When did they stop?
