High School Unhappy with Speaker’s Conservative Stance on Social Issues

A local Veterans of Foreign Wars chapter in Massachusetts invited Kyle Reyes to speak at his high school alma mater, Southwick High School, about growing up in a post-9/11 terrorist attack world. Reyes is not a military veteran, but was an invited speaker until the high school administration pulled his speech invitation.

Reyes had poked fun at gender studies, which the administration said it would upset some of the high school teachers and staffer who are active in pro-LGBT causes outside of school.

The invitation was to speak to high schoolers at a new dedication of a new foyer for the high school, but since that decision, the VFW will hold a pre-dedication ceremony on a different date since the high school nixed the speech and initial ceremony plans.
