That seems to be the conclusion of at least one dean emeritus. “With tradition, philosophy, and religion long succumbed to science as the sole path to truth and now with the dethronement of science as the arbiter of truth, ruling principles, immovable intellectual centers, and fixed structures of thought appear to be gone forever,” George Stanciu writes in an essay which appeared on The Imaginative Conservative blog. “What rules is a different form of ideology—ideas and images replace concrete experience.”
Stanciu is the Academic Dean Emeritus at Northeast Catholic College in Warner, New Hampshire.
