Ball State University Agreement Boosts Pro-Life Student Group’s Efforts to Help Pregnant Students

Ball State University agreed to fund a pro-life student group and paid $12,000 in legal fees after the pro-life student group, Students for Life, pointed out that it was being excluded from official club status due to religious discrimination. The agreement resulted in a new definition of free speech protections. Originally, the university’s free speech enforcement policies gave officials leeway to discriminate against any type of on-campus student group.

The Students for Life group will use the funding to help pregnant and young mothers at Ball State. Ironically, the university worked with Students for Life to secure parking permits for pregnant and young mothers at university parking lots.
