Saint Louis University, Amid Budget Crunch, Buys Amazon Echo Devices for Students

A year after laying off 120 workers, Saint Louis University outfits 2,300 student rooms with Amazon Echo devices and will not detail how much that cost the university. The university faced a $16 million budget shofrtall in 2017, and laid off 120 workers as a result, but it will not answer questions about how much it cost to buy Amazon Echo devices for its students. On Amazon’s website, each Echo device costs $49.99.
