Professor Claims There’s No Liberal Academic Bias

A political science professor from Bradley University took several thousand words on his blog to prove that academia doesn’t tilt overwhelmingly to the political Left. “In reality we don’t get paid enough to do the hard work brainwashing would require,” Ed Burmilla asserts on his blog The Outline. “Political indoctrination? I can’t even get students to read the syllabus.” That’s about the hardest evidence he offers.

Some of the students who do read his syllabus actually like him and say so on Rate My Professor. Yet and still, if his lectures are as loaded with assertions as his articles, his progeny might be entertained but not enlightened.

Finally, as a regular contributor to The Nation, he hardly qualifies as a conservative outlier in academe.
