Anti-Israeli Students Oppose former Israeli General Teaching a Course at University of Chicago

Meir Elran, a former general in the Israeli Defense Forces, was slated to teach a course at the University of Chicago, but his appointment has been opposed by socialist and pro-Palestinian students. Members of the Students for Justice in Palestine (known by the acronym SJP) and socialist students said that Elran’s appointment makes it hard for them to determine where “militarism, U.S. imperialism, and ethnonationalism end, and the University begins.”

Elran is going to teach a national security course entitled, “Security, Counter-Terrorism and Resilience: The Israeli Case.”
