The good news is that the experts say there will be jobs in the future. The bad news is that after a generation in public school, there won’t be qualified applicants to fill them, and wait until you hear what one of those emerging sectors is.

“For all five career fields, the percentage of the nation’s 2009 ACT-tested high school graduates expressing an interest in those fields falls short of projected openings,” according to the ACT. “The most significant gaps are for Computer/Information Specialties (9 percent) and Education (8 percent).”

So if fewer grads go into education, can we expect public school spending to go down? Yeah, as if…
