Remembering Spencer Reed Irvine
Spencer Reed Irvine passed away on September 24, 2023 after a short but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer in Scottsdale, AZ, surrounded by family.
Spencer is survived by his wife of nearly six years, Meg of Phoenix, AZ, his parents Don and Young Irvine of Gaithersburg, MD, and his brother Steven (Bree) of West Jordan, UT, and sister Kristy Tidwell (Tyler) of Newburgh, IN, along with several cousins and nephews and nieces.
Throughout his life Spencer displayed a kind and caring nature and always placed others’ interests and concerns above his own.
Spencer was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a full-time mission for the church between 2007-2009 in the California San Fernando Mission in the Spanish language.
After completing his missionary service, he returned to Brigham Young University and earned a degree in international relations. Following graduation, he worked for Accuracy in Media, an organization founded by his grandfather, Reed Irvine. He later pursued a Master’s in public administration, which he obtained from George Washington University in 2016.
In 2017, he joined In Pursuit Of as a war room analyst and press assistant. He relocated to Phoenix in 2019, briefly working for the Arizona Department of Economic Security before assuming the role of Senior Writer for Americans for Fair Treatment, an organization based in Harrisburg, PA. Spencer also contributed heavily to Accuracy in Academia by handling the social media and the bulk of the writing and research for the website and Campus Report newsletter.
