Campus Report Live

On the next episode of Accuracy in Academia’s Campus Report, I will be joined by two guests who have played key roles in some of the most divisive battles in education.

· George C. Leef presides over The John W. Pope Center for Higher Education. Located in Raleigh, N. C., the Pope Center is strategically close to two universities where battles over multiculturalism, Middle East studies and affirmative action rage—Duke and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Pope Center’s constructive criticism of those schools and their sister institutions in the Research Triangle have frequently been met with acrimonious reactions, as Leef, the author of Free Choice for Workers, will explain.

· The author of The War Against Excellence: The Rising Tide of Mediocrity in America’s Middle Schools, Cheri Pierson Yecke recently agreed to serve as Education Secretary to Florida Governor Jeb Bush. She has held similar posts in Virginia and her home state of Minnesota in which her efforts to return standards and competency to public schools won her the enmity of the educational establishment.

· Deborah Lambert, who writes the popular ‘Squeaky Chalk’ column for the Campus Report, will also drop in to share tales of some of the higher education high jinx she has uncovered.

AIA’s Campus Report will air live on www.rightalk.com onSeptember 30, 2005 from 2:00 to 3:00 PM EST and be rebroadcast for 24 hours after the program ends.
