A female student at the University of Alabama was allegedly expelled after a social media video of her saying a racist word. The student posted the video on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, a federal holiday.

Now, the ACLU is warning the university that it violated the student’s First Amendment rights by allegedly expelling her for her racist remarks.

This is yet another reminder that racist and hate speech are protected under the First Amendment.
