Documentaries and dramatic miniseries among student activists appear to be gospel, meaning questioning the biases of the documentary is heretical. A new documentary called “When They See Us,” was released on the popular streaming platform Netflix and portrayed the “Central Park Five” prosecutor, Elizabeth Lederer, in a negative light.

As a result, Lederer has been criticized by activists online and the same activists have pressured groups and businesses to avoid association with her. She had worked as a part-time faculty at the Columbia Law School and said that without institutional support, she will not seek reinstatement at the law school.

Lederer is currently the assistant district attorney in New York City and calls for her firing and resignation have been met with stiff resistance in the district attorney’s office.
