After Professor Posted about Joy over Barbara Bush’s Passing, Donors Warn University over Withholding Donations
Donors are now telling California State University-Fresno officials that they are considering withholding their donations if the university does not assuage their concerns over a professor’s social media post, which praised the death of former First Lady Barbara Bush.
Randa Jarrar, last weekend, posted on social media of how she is glad that Barbara Bush passed away since it will hurt George W. Bush (one of Barbara’s sons and who served as U.S. president). She specifically said the following:
- Barbara Bush was an “amazing racist” who also “raised a war criminal.”
- She also said, “I’m happy the witch is dead. can’t wait for the rest of the family to fall to their demise the way 1.5 million iraqis [sic] have.”
- After the backlash which ensued, she doubled down and said, “All the hate I’m getting ALMOST made me forget how happy I am that George W Bush is probably really sad right now.”
In a local newspaper interview, one CSU-Fresno donor said that he and others are discussing with university officials about withholding their future donations and rethinking whether their children should attend the university.
