Attendance at ‘White Privilege Conference’ Required for College Course in Colorado

At the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs, it is mandatory that students attend a ‘White Privilege Conference’ in Grand Rapids, Michigan if they enrolled in the “Intersections of Privilege” college course.

Taught by a sociology professor named Abby Ferber, who co-organizes the conference, the conference has a variety of workshops aimed at deconstructing white privilege. The course is taught online, but the only attendance requirement is the conference itself.

Per the course description:

“[The course is] built around the White Privilege Conference, designed to provide foundational knowledge; provide an opportunity to connect the WPC experience with research and best practices in the field; and to apply knowledge gained there.”
