Brown University students, operating as a group known as SPEAK, are pushing the university administration to invite more ideologically diverse speakers onto its campus. The group used the following data to prove its point about the severe lack of ideological diversity among its invited speakers in 2017, among other points they made in their report:

  • Of all 237 speakers invited to speak last year, 95.4 percent had a “left-lean” political affiliation.
  • Of the 198 speakers who spoke on U.S. politics, 93.4% were left-leaning.
