Physics professor Tom Bensky at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo created a small stir when he created an app for attendance tracking. The app uses a student’s GPS location data to determine if they are in class or not.

Some students claim it is violating their right to privacy, but Bensky said that he created safeguards in the app to stop using the GPS location data once the student is not in the classroom.
