When members of the D.C. Federation of College Democrats traveled to Ohio this fall to rev up undecided voters, they were surprised when one member of an Eastern European household shouted that he supported “Obama the Communist,” according to William Vogt’s report in the Georgetown University student paper, “The Hoya.”
Student Brooke Heinichen said: “I asked him about Obama, and he just went on about how he and his family love Obama because Obama is a Communist and we love Communism.” She added that “at least it’s one more vote for Obama, although I didn’t ask him to volunteer.”
Ms. Heinichen was one of more than 100 students from the DC Dems group that included members from George Washington, Catholic and American Universities, and Trinity College, who piled into buses for a 10-hour ride to the Columbus Ohio area to canvass voters.
Although their Ohio experience was capped off by an overnight stay at a local Plumbers and Pipefitters union hall, there was not one sighting of “Joe the Plumber” reported.
