Davidson College Professor Allows Students to Pick Their Own Grades

A literature class professor at Davidson College is allowing her students to pick their own grades. This “contract grading” is where students will write out how they will assign themselves a corresponding grade and will submit these guidelines to the professor. The professor, Melissa Gonzalez, is using this for her Spanish Literatures and Cultures course at the private North Carolina college.
