Global Warming Alarmism Cooled

WASHINGTON, DC — More than a dozen members of the George Washington University chapter of Young America’s Foundation (GWYAF) held a Global Warming Beach Party in protest of Thomas Friedman’s speech on Thursday, January 21 at 7:30pm in GWU’s Lisner Auditorium. GWYAF found the idea and a guide to execute it on CampusReform.org, a new national network of conservative and libertarian college students.

GWYAF members call for an open debate on global warming and GWU’s sustainability policies. Currently, GWU presents global warming as unquestioned fact – an act that GWYAF labels as indoctrination, especially in light of recent accusations of data manipulation.

“This event was designed to educate the students of GW about the truth of the sustainability issue,” said Travis Korson, the President of GWYAF. Students held signs challenging global warming alarmism, handed out ice pops and leaflets to those attending the speech, and even appeared in polar bear costumes.

Friedman is a New York Times columnist. His book Hot, Flat and Crowded: Why We Need a Green Revolution — and How It Can Renew America is required reading for GWU freshmen as part of the Freshman Reading Program.
