According to a list at a Boston-area liberal arts college, the phrase “god bless you” is a microaggression and should not be used. The Simmons College list went so far as to ban the word “phobia” to avoid offending people who do not like the word. Instead, the list suggests using “Misia” to replace “phobia.”

“Misia” comes from the Greek word for hate or hatred.
