Grades Are Only Numbers

Now that we’ve survived the first four years of life under the Obama regime, it’s worth noting that despite the much-vaunted campaign promises of hope and change, nothing positive has happened.

For example, it would appear that the same people who actively oppose voter ID, do not believe that President Barack Obama should have to disclose his college grade point average. Do you recall the stampede by the left that resulted in disclosure of George W. Bush’s grades back on 2000?

Recently, “an unnamed source told The Daily Caller that Obama’s GPA was only 2.6. The source, a fellow alumnus of Columbia University, who is also a donor to the school, is claiming that he has inside information about the president’s academic performance when he was an undergraduate. In 2004, after Obama’s successful speech at that year’s Democratic convention, a Columbia University official told him Barack Obama’s GPA, he explained to The DC. “This person told me that he [Obama] was a pre-law, poli-sci major, had a lot of incompletes, and as best could be determined after sorting through the incompletes, had a GPA of 2.6,” said the businessman, a former Marine Corps combat veteran.”

“The source asked not to be named, but The DC has verified at least one $2,500 contribution he made to Columbia. The claim matches some of the other reports about Columbia’s arrivals in 1981, and some of Obama’s comments about his college career, including his 1981 transfer from Occidental College to Columbia.

Obama told author David Maraniss that he earned a B+ GPA in two years at Occidental. But it also clashes with other evidence, including Obama’s observable smarts, and his claim to Maraniss that he earned a GPA of 3.7 at the Ivy League school.”

“It would be illegal for a university official to reveal the academic records of the president without his consent. For us to find out for certain, Obama must give his permission for the release of his college records. We are talking about the president who promised unparalleled transparency. So why won’t he release his college transcripts?

“You can’t get a job as a junior secretary in this country without releasing your academic records. How is it that you can become president without releasing them?

“Was Obama’s GPA at Columbia really 3.7? If so, why would he want to hide his transcripts? 3.7 is a very respectable GPA. In fact, it exactly matches my own average at Yale. But if, in fact, Obama’s records show a much lower GPA, isn’t that something American voters have a right to know?

“Obama should release his academic records immediately. Americans have a right to know more about the man” who will be leading them for another four years.
