Hillary Clinton, during Commencement Address, Rails Against President Trump after Mueller Report Release
Former 2016 Democratic Party nominee for president, Hillary Clinton, used her commencement speech to graduates at Hunter College as a political speech. Hunter College is a constituent college of the City University of New York and is located in Manhattan
The collusion report, issued by former special counsel Robert Mueller, informed the American public that there was no evidence for collusion with Russian operatives. In short, the Mueller report, as it is known, said that President Donald Trump should not be charged with the crime of working with Russian operatives to subvert the 2016 presidential election.
In her speech, she mentioned the Mueller report and went into attack mode against the Trump administration. She said, “Just today before this graduation ceremony started we heard from the Special Counsel Robert Mueller who said there were multiple systemic efforts to interfere in our election, and that allegation deserves the attention of every American, but what we’ve seen from the administration is the complete refusal to condemn a foreign power who attacked our democracy.”
She continued and listed alleged offenses committed by the Trump White House. “When I think about the future I think about what do we do when people in positions of authority are not held accountable, when they defy requests from the Congress, when they spread misinformation onlineā¦”
Clinton then explained why she brought politics up “at this joyous occasion of your graduation?” She said, “Because the future of this democracy truly does depend on you and I know that’s asking a lot and it can be tempting to read the news and throw your hands up and conclude nothing matters [and] nothing will change so why even bother? But it does really, really matter and this is no time for apathy.”
In short, she continues to blame her 2016 election loss on unproven allegations of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian operatives. It appears she will not bury the hatchet on 2016 and continues to operate as a politician without a political office.
