Illinois University Settles $10,000 Lawsuit over Free Speech

Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville settled a $10,000 lawsuit with the College Republicans chapter over freedom of speech on the college campus. The lawsuit was filed against the university because the student chapter felt that the university’s imposed free speech zones violated their First Amendment rights.

Speech zones are where people can express their freedom of speech, but are limited to specifically designated areas on the college campus.
