Marquette University: Don’t Use the Word ‘Illegal” when Referring to Immigrants

Marquette University advised its students to not use the word “illegal” when referring to students who are in the country illegally for fear of offending them. Instead, the university prefers that students use the word “undocumented” or “unauthorized” to create a “safe space” for these students.
