A group of College Republicans at the University of California-Merced recently made a video in which they asked fellow students who support redistribution of wealth if they would support redistribution of GPA points.
Interestingly, the students decline to sign the petition that would redistribute GPAs, on the premise that it isn’t fair—because they earned their grades.
The College Republicans point out that income is earned just like grades are earned. People get good grades for a variety of reasons; some people are hard workers, and others are just good at testing. People get bad grades for a variety of reasons, too: some people work hard and get nowhere, and others don’t even bother trying.
Income works the same way.
But according to these students, that’s “different.” Money is “different.”
As the College Republicans ask: How is it different?
