Star Trek posters at workplaces among technology workers is apparently sexist, according to a librarian at MIT named Chris Bourg. The comments were made at a conference she attended, which she posted on her blog. Bourg is the director of libraries at the institute.

Here’s one part of her comments:

“There is research that shows that workplaces that are plastered with stereotypically ‘tech or nerd guy’ cultural images – think Star Trek – have negative impact on women’s likelihood of pursuing tech work and of staying in tech work in general or in that particular work environment.”
