States Reaffirm First Amendment on Campus

And intellectuals in and out of academia don’t like it.

Tennessee, North Carolina and Wisconsin have enacted free speech protections on campus and Michigan and Illinois are considering similar safeguards, mostly based on a model statute composed by the Goldwater Institute in Arizona. Nevertheless, the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) worries that the legislation will result in less free speech.

They cite a study by something called PEN America that pretty much comes to the same conclusion. PEN America is F”a nationwide community of more than 5,000 novelists, journalists, poets, essayists, playwrights, editors, publishers, translators, agents, and other writing professionals.” Gee, it almost sounds like a cartel;>)
