In a chapel at Duke University, there is a statue resembling Confederate general Robert E. Lee. It was vandalized and it prompted a statement from the university, condemning the vandalism.

After the violent protests in Charlottesville, Virginia, there has been outrage on social media and now, in public places where Confederate statues are located.
