Student Senate at San Diego State Voted to Eliminate ‘Aztec’ Mascot

San Diego State University has the mascot of an “Aztec,” a representation of a Mexican Native American civilization that was conquered by Spanish conquistadors. The student senate at the university voted to get rid of the mascot and to replace it. The alternative has not been discussed.
