Teachers’ union president slams impeachment inquiry as ‘sham’

AIA’s last update about the left-wing teachers’ union American Federation of Teachers (AFT) was about their partisan conference in Washington, D.C. This week, our update is their latest press release about the ongoing impeachment inquiry led by the House GOP.

Needless to say, AFT is opposed to the impeachment inquiry of President Joe Biden related to the potential shady business dealings of the Biden family. In their press release, the teachers’ union called the impeachment a “sham.” But notice that the union did not address the merits of the impeachment inquiry and instead the union emphasized partisan rhetoric.

Here is the text of the press release:

American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten issued the following statement after House Republicans pushed to open an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden:

“Today, House Republicans chose to weaponize the impeachment process and move forward with an ‘inquiry’ into President Biden with no evidence. None whatsoever. It leaves a deep stain on the congressional process and is an egregious abuse of power.

“While President Biden gets up every day and does the people’s business—strengthening the economy, advancing our national security interests, and bringing back stability and honor to the workings of government—House Republicans have done little other than pursue spurious, fact-free investigations. Not one major initiative, other than a budget bill averting default—which they are now disavowing—has become law.

“Doing the bidding of Donald Trump, who is facing more than 90 felony counts, is taking House Republicans down a very rancid road. History will not be kind.”

Teachers’ unions like AFT should be focusing on the bread-and-butter issues of education, such as reading, writing and arithmetic. Yet these entrenched unions prefer to focus on partisan politics and their emphasis on politics do not help the struggling students that they profess to serve.
