The clicks stop coming at BuzzFeed News

Internet “listicle” sensation BuzzFeed News, which reported on everything and anything it could in an effort to garner more eyeballs and clicks, will be shutting down as part of a broad cost-cutting effort that continues to plague companies in the news media space.

BuzzFeed News gained some notoriety when they published the now-discredited Steele dossier, which dossier was embraced by liberals at the time. The dossier accused Donald Trump of colluding with the Kremlin to win the 2016 presidential election and that the Russians had compromising information on him, but has subsequently been debunked as anti-Trump propaganda promoted by Democratic Party politicians and operatives.

It was this type of reporting that underscored BuzzFeed News’s liberal bias, but economics did them in as they failed to generate profits after going public in December 2021. At the time, BuzzFeed News went public through an entity called a Special Purpose Acquisition Offering (SPAC) and the BuzzFeed News SPAC has lost 95% of its value since its debut.

BuzzFeed News ultimately lost its buzz and credibility since the Trump years and never recovered.
