Theme of ‘Dia de Los Muertos’ Removed after Claims of ‘Cultural Appropriation’

Orange Coast College issued an apology e-mail for including a ‘Dia de Los Muertos’ theme in one of their recruiting displays for club recruitment activities. Why?

Some at the college felt that portraying this theme was an act of “cultural appropriation,” or when a group assimilates other cultural symbols for their own use.
