Three University of Virginia Student Groups Upset at Local Jail’s ICE Notification Policy

The Immigration, Customs and Enforcement (ICE) agency is a lightning rod for criticism from the Left. The agency is often perceived as unjust and unfair toward illegal immigrants, when the agency is performing its duties of enforcing immigration laws passed by Congress.

This time, three student groups at the University of Virginia protested a local jurisdiction’s policy of notifying ICE when illegal immigrants are going to be released. ICE has relationships with local jurisdictions to enforce immigration law and it appears that Charlottesville, Virginia, where the university is based, has this relationship with ICE.
