Title IX Turnaround at Eastern Michigan University

If Eastern Michigan University was trying to camouflage cutting men’s sports by cutting a few women’s athletic program, the possible ruse didn’t work. “Two female students have filed a Title IX lawsuit against Eastern Michigan University after the school cut their sports teams, even though the cuts disproportionately impacted male athletes,” Toni Airaksinen reports on the Campus Reform blog maintained by the Leadership Institute. “According to EMU, four sports teams were axed in March 2018: men’s wrestling, men’s swimming, women’s softball, and women’s tennis. Among the students impacted, 25 were women and 58 were men.”

Here’s a novel thought: To paraphrase Pink Floyd, Hey, teacher, leave those sports alone!
