University of Louisiana-Lafayette Updates Free Speech Policy after Criticism from Student Group
The University of Louisiana-Lafayette, a public university located in Lafayette, Louisiana (which is west of Baton Rouge, the state capital), recently updated its free speech policy after some pressure from the student group Young Americans for Liberty. Now, the university cannot “shield” its students from “offensive” ideas, which was a vaguely-worded policy to begin with.
The university said, “per federal and state laws, and in coordination with the UL System and Board of Regents, the University has updated its Policy on Campus Free Speech.”
